Ready for Barcelona!
Ready for Barcelona!

I had the pleasure of staying at The Mirror Barcelona at the end of April, and I’m so glad that I did. We had an extremely swift check-in – and after a whole day of travelling that is the one thing that everyone wants! The staff in turn were extremely welcoming and efficient and were clearly happy to make our stay special by going the extra mile.

I can honestly say that I had a very peaceful nights sleep at The Mirror Hotel. You might see the minimalist white decor and think it quite cold harsh but it was spot on. During the day when it was hot the bedroom was the perfect place to take a break from the sun and it felt cool and refreshing. Yet at night when it was a little cooler, it still felt cosy in the “Treca de Paris” bed.

I must mention the incredible electric black out blinds. One press of the switch and you can completely shut out any kind of light, so its also perfect when taking a little siesta!!

The Mirror Barcelona being a small boutique hotel does not have its own restaurant, and to be honest I don’t think its a bad thing. Unless you are eating in an establishment as good as The Savoy I feel that its very rare to find a good hotel restaurant and I find they are often disappointing.

It does however boast a glamorous bar at the front of the hotel with some street seating to do a little people watching. As for breakfast you wont be disappointed. A large continental breakfast with a huge array of choice is offered, from cold meats and cheeses, pastries and fruits. Not forgetting that the lovely staff will be happy to whip up an omelette or a cooked breakfast on request giving you everything you need for the city day ahead.

The Hotel is situated just off Av. Diagonal which is close to the Diagonal metro stop and just north of Placa De Catalunya where the Airport coach will drop you off in the centre of Barcelona for just 5.90€ one way. You are also just a short metro ride away from the Segrada Familia, Park Guell and only a few stops from the glorious beach.

It was a real mix of guests when we were there mid week. At breakfast I noticed guests of all ages and all nationalities, yet I would say the majority were of a younger age and I would guess that the minimalist design would attract just that. Although the hotel would most certainly welcome families with children I got the feeling of it being the perfect place for couples wanting a little romance in the middle of Barcelona.

My favourite bit!

I absolutely loved the aqua blue roof top pool and terrace. Its a perfect place to relax, reflect and refresh before heading out to enjoy Barcelona.

My worst bit!

It was hard trying to find my worst bit but I would say the flat screen TV in the toilet was a little odd. I believe it is more of a European trait in some of the boutique hotels. I can appreciate a nice TV over a large bath, but not sure about watching it from the toilet!

Overall we had a very relaxing stay at The Mirror Hotel. After a day of travelling to a totally new country and climate it allowed us to comfortably acclimatise to Spain in total luxury. I would fully recommend anyone heading to Barcelona to try this hotel for themselves. You can thank me later!

Rooms from 164 €/night for a single use in a deluxe room, breakfast 18€.
