Cosmopolitan Blog Awards 2015

3The morning I woke to find Miss Barlow shortlisted for the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards, I was probably more excited than a kid on Christmas day. Never in a  million years did I think I’d actually be shortlisted. Out of the 56,000 people that were nominated I was in the top 10 for Best Travel Blog of 2015. Really?? uh…yes please!!

Once shortlisted each blogger had to get as many votes as possible from their followers, the votes along with a Cosmo judging panel would decide who got Highly Commended and Winner in each category. Like we bloggers do, I was straight onto social media, promoting the awards and hoping to get a few votes my way. For the month of October we were on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest more than ever, promoting Cosmo Magazine and the main sponsors Blossom Hill Belle Blush. Girls put up blogs about the nomination, they pulled on contacts to support them or sponsor them. All in all it was one long month of pushing your blog like you’ve never pushed it before – and most likely annoying all of your followers in the process!

Probably the first thing that came to my mind when I knew I’d be attending the awards night was – “What the hell do I wear??”. I would be surrounded by gorgeous Beauty Bloggers, stylish Fashion Bloggers, elegant Wedding Bloggers and sexy Relationship Bloggers. How can a travel blogger top that? You can’t, but I’m happy to say that us Travel Girls did the Travel Blogging World proud with play-suits, pencil skirts, co-ordinates and a variety of dresses. No one would’ve known we had swapped our bikinis and Nike Air Max’s for such glamour!

As soon as I saw that the awards was to be held at One Marylebone I knew it was going to be pretty amazing. This old renovated church is an incredible structure in the heart of Marylebone, one of London’s most upmarket post codes with it’s stunning architecture, a beautiful high street and high-end shopping outlets. I stepped out of the cab to see One Marylebone’s gothic features engulfed in a deep green light. Walking past the doormen and down the red carpet made you feel like a celebrity. Oh how I want to do that walk again….and again! There was so much going on at once it was hard to know where to start, well, not that hard – champagne please! The round bar in the middle of the large venue was covered in glasses of Champagne, Kir Royale, Cocktails and of course our sponsors Blossim Hill Belle Blush. With our drinks we headed to the left and had to get a travel girls photo (or ten) with the photographer and the Cosmo backdrop.

From what I could tell Cosmo really outdid themselves from previous years, firstly with the venue but also with the sumptuous canapes, and industry guests. You could have your hair done at the Remington Stand with Celeb Hair dresser Charley McEwan (Nicole Sherzeringer’s Hair dresser),  your make-up done, have Barry M transform your nails or eat tasty treats with La di da Sweet Treats - who recently took Selfridges by storm with their incredible creations! Before we demolished the cake stand we opted for some silver sparkly, skin transfers to match our outfits.

Pretty Transfers!

The lovely Sophie’s Suitcase walked away with ‘Best Travel Blog’ and Twins Travel received ‘Highly Commended’ for their unique style. It was a fantastic night and I met some incredible bloggers not to mention the 9 other talented travel girls (below). Thank you Cosmo! Here’s to 2016…
